Is Georgetown known internationally?

It's international ranking is pretty low, yet I hear so much about the diverse international student population. The world class famous alumni also speaks volumes about its international prestige, but I was wondering if Georgetown is really known throughout the globe in the same light as an ivy or a Stanford?

anyone from the UK, EU that can vouch for its international recognition?

I'm studying abroad right now in Spain, and Georgetown actually has more recognition here than most schools other than HYPS. Although this is probably just Spain, because Prince Felipe and former President Aznar are both GU alums, and Aznar has been a professor there.

And yes, there are a ton of international students from all over the world, so it must have a pretty decent ranking and prestige everywhere else, too.

thanks. I figured it had some international recognition considering the large number of famous international alumns.

georgetown is very well-respected internationally..the reason it is so low in those world rankings is because it is not on par with big research universities in resources and cutting edge research...those rankings favor state schools...as far as job placement into government, law, business, and medicine, gtowns programs are on par with virtually everyone except HYPS
