Hello.
I live in a country where SAT and ACT are not offered,so,I have to go abroad and take them.
Since it’s the only time I can go ,and considering that I want to have a good efficiency on the test ,and the pressure which may be existed in a foreign country on me during the test, regardless of courses I have passed in my high school,do you think that whether these courses are strong enough to show my academic ability to Harvard by getting 800 on both of them?
I mean, the type of them, for example in compared with Math 2 or Physics.
Haven’t international students heard of any other schools besides Harvard? No, getting two 800s won’t be enough to ensure a place at Harvard. They routinely reject students with those scores.
then what’s the difference:

you do realize those posts are from 2009
so what is wrong do you think?
what’s your advice?
Are you asking which tests you should take?
Yes,I mean, what’s your opinion about taking them.
Or in other words,if I take them, then what? Do you think whether they suffices or not?
@asd957 https://college.harvard.edu/admissions/apply/application-process/sat-subject-tests
But in general, strong SAT subject test scores (even 800’s) are not sufficient for admission into Harvard.
Misunderstanding: I didn’t say “only these tests”.I mean Regardless of the other factors like essays, etc.
@asd957 In regards of “showing academic ability,” the SAT subject tests are one way, but there are many other ways.
If you can take subject tests in areas which you are good at, and taking subject tests doesn’t put a strain on finances, then you should take them.
the acceptance rate for an international is like 2% for harvard.
if you are going abroad to take the subject tests, take the actual sat as well if it is not an issue financially
Thousands of students from around the world apply to Harvard (and Yale, MIT, Stanford, etc.) with 800s on their record – and they’re rejected.
Why?
Because these schools aren’t JUST looking for perfect SAT scores. They’re looking for students who have shown tremendous leadership qualities. Who have taken part in international academic Olympiads. Who are accomplished artists, musicians or athletes. They’re looking for future leaders, politicians, inventors, entrepreneurs and Nobel prize winners.
They’re also looking for children of the very, very rich and powerful. How do you think Harvard got to be so rich?
Applying to Harvard (or any of the top elite schools) is a bit like playing the lottery. If you feel like playing, go for it. If you feel like you want to put your effort and apply for schools more likely to admit you, go to the International Students subforum and start reading.
Not all the Ivy Plus schools have their eye on children of the rich so that does not even do it for some schools.
