Hello! I'm Bart and I come from Poland. I'm going to apply to some American universities. My question is: how much is my high school GPA important among other factors such as SAT results and extracurricular activities as well as outstanding achievements in some subjects?

Bart

It’s very important, but just how important depends on the school. If you want to know for a particular school, type in the schools name on google then type “common data set”. In there it will tell you how important GPA is as well as many other things such as class rank, SAT, etc.

Usually, GPA and test scores are the most important.

ECs tend to just help schools further choose from the pool of kids with high GPAs and high test scores.

An exception might be if the student has some incredible hook or incredible EC. But, the typical very good ECs are not going to trump test scores and GPA.

Since you’re going to be an int’l applicant, do you know if paying for college will be an issue? If you’ll need financial aid, then it will be especially hard for you to get accepted to the limited number of schools that give much/any FA to int’ls.

What are your stats? How much will your family pay each year?
