This could sound really stupid but ive seen programmes like 'greek' and stuff and i was wondering if its anything like that in college? Is there that much drama and partying or is it not as fun as that?

it’s definitely not as fun, but it’s got its perks

yes
.

Parts are similar, like parties (and hazing for some frats/sororities) but there’s also community service and philanthropy and stuff that TV does not include.

The parties and stuff are really similar though.

In ABC’s Greek, they feature philanthropies all the time. I would say that Greek is the closest fictional depiction to real greek life as you can get, minus the unrealistic drama between the characters (but that’s in every TV show about young adults). The parties in Greek are pretty tame compared to real frat parties though, and fraternities and sororities don’t only do mixers with one or two other GLOs exclusively, like it shows on the program.

If your looking to see true frat life, check out totalfratmove dot com. That website pretty much summarizes every frat daddy and sorostitute.

It varies depending on school and on the individual fraternities. At Michigan, while a few frats sincerely care about philanthropy and offer a strong brotherhood, the majority truly are just drinking and partying clubs, unfortunately.

stuff like the drama, rivalries, etc are greatly exaggerated. it also depends on what school you go to, some will have different scenes than others. greek is a tame version though, they seem to leave out some things that are common, but usually on the dl

it’s definitely not
