so, every category seems to be in a higher range for GT than in UGA.

It's hard to say. While the stats are all higher (except GPA) at GT, their acceptance rate is also higher. I got deferred from UGA, and anticipate a decision from GT within the next day or so. Also, I know many people that know people that got into Tech and were denied by UGA.

same here. i got accepted at uga, but i was shocked at all those who were deferred because they had higher scores in certain areas than me.

does GT weigh the SAT/ACT and GPA the same? or is one weighed heavier than the other?

at the admissions session, they claimed the following 4 categories are weighed equally:

-SAT/ACT
-GPA
-ECs
-Essay

congrats on UGA btw. My GPA killed me (3.34 core) there, because they weigh it the most. People came up to me assuming I got in cuz I have high SATs and just a rep like that ( ;) lol), and were surprised when I told them I got deferred.

haha thanks :).

but omg, i really pray i get into tech.

I think it all depends. For example, I have a friend who was accepted into Georgia State, UGA, and Emory, but rejected from Tech. His GPA was very high, but his SAT was on the low side.

Tech and UGA want different things in an applicant I believe. UGA, being the "flagship" that most people in the state will strive to attend, the hard working kid who maybe didn't have a great SAT/ACT but had a solid GPA might get into UGA but Tech, which seems to place the most weight on the SAT/ACT, might reject the same person. Coming from a flagship school myself, there's a bit of a difference between the type of person enrolled at Tech and one enrolled at a UGA.

I was deferred then rejected from uga and waitlisted then accepted to tech

tech tends to look more at sat scores,
uga tends to look more at gpa scores.

tech also goes easier on girls, or so i've heard :]

good luck everyone with georgia and tech!
i hope we all get in!!
