I've been checking out some lists of the most expensive colleges in the country but it doesn't look like there's anything out about the 2012-2013 costs yet. From what I can tell though, there doesn't seem to be another college that puts its total cost over 60k for this coming year. Sarah Laurence actually decreased its cost this year. I think that means GWU is the most expensive college in the country (probably world too?)... keeping my fingers crossed for some crazy financial aid still I guess

Rochester’s cost of attendance is over 60k.

Even though GW says its cost of attendance is 60k, they severely underestimate housing cost. I’m not even sure where they got the figure from, but its $1k under the cheapest dorm and $3-4k cheaper than the average freshmen dorm.

The average GW freshmen this year is probably looking at a 63k COA. So yeah, probably one of the most expensive.

My COA for Northwestern is $61k. But then again, I live on the east coast so traveling expenses probably bumped it up for me. But nevertheless, very expensive. Thank goodness they have great financial aid!

My point: GW isn’t the only school with at least a $60k COA.

These rankings lists always forget that GW has fixed tuition. So suppose GW is 60k and another school is 58k for one year, the other school might increase to 61k in the next year due to rising housing AND tuition costs. GW will increase by about 1k (according to recent trends) due to rising housing costs only. So in the long run, GW is actually cheaper than many schools. Of course, this is only the face value. Many students attend paying only half of the face value.

yes, good post. gw is by far the most expensive college in the world.

Another canard debunked. Too bad, people seem to really enjoy that one.

No idea what numbers I was looking at but I had Northwestern listed at 55k. They’re actually 60,800 so 500 more than GWU. UR is also like a grand more. I didn’t remember UR being so expensive!
