Hi,
So I’m applying to Hamilton College RD, but I’ve read some negative reviews on it. Can anyone tell me about the social atmosphere there? I don’t drink or do drugs, I’m academically focused, not interested in Greek life. Diversity and social activism are important to me (I’m biracial, half black half white.) I go to a very clique-y, white, upper middle class high school and I’m wondering if the social scene and Hamilton is like that? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
You’d probably get better responses posting this to the Hamilton forum on here.
I was accepted to Hamilton but didn’t end up attending. I visited the campus multiple times, though, and I really personally loved the atmosphere. If you haven’t visited already, you might consider doing so. I wouldn’t pay attention to reviews of colleges; I feel like they’re usually biased towards the negative side because people tend to write them when they’re particularly upset.
Ok I will thank you!
@Ranza123 has a point, most of the people actually sending in some review turns out saying biased thoughts. Might be best to try and visit the school if you still have the time
From my research, it would be a dream school for my child. I like that it’s a mixture of preppy and artsy kids, not one or the other. Everything about it, including the curriculum looks great. Good luck finding out more.
How important to you are diversity and social activism? If the answer is “very” then you would likely be happy at Hamilton but there are probably other schools you’d be happier at.
It is very important to me, but doesn’t need to be a college wide thing as long as I can find a group of people who care about it too.
What attracts you to Hamilton?
The campus, the size, the dedication to learning, the lack of a core curriculum, the community feel.
