is Harry Potter a book?

This isn't a uniqueness contest...

Just put what you like the most.

Actually- the book I'm putting down is ...

Aldous Huxley- Brave New World

Snape is not evil. Dumbledore planned the whole thing.

Uh, well Ivy League admissions actually is something of a uniqueness contest. Part of putting together a successful application is highlighting things about yourself that make you stand out from from all the other bright kids. I don't think that Harry Potter is going to help with that.

Don't be dishonest - put something that you actually do like. But try hard to think of something beyond the same old book that every other kid in America also likes.

here are some other books I like

Life of Pi
1984
Diplomacy by Henry Kissinger
Catch 22
Born Confused (South Asian-American growing in American trying to find her roots....sorta like the South Asian version of Amy Tan)

do you reckon I should put one of these down? I mean, I do like these books a lot. But the "favorite" book is def HP.

Also, what do you think of putting a foreign (Bollywood) movie down as favorite? How about Wedding Crashers or Bend it Like Beckham?

Snape definitely isn't evil. There is absolutely no way that Dumbledore was WRONG about trusting him. Dumbledore is NEVER wrong. :D

I say, if you like Harry Potter, put it down on the app. Actually, i'll admit that there is one other book (just one in the whole world) that i like a bit better than harry potter, but all my favorite websites are HP websites, so that would look sorta weird if i had HP websites but a different book.

I think putting down "Harry Potter" is much better than lets say "My Darling, My Hamburger". Actually, it wasn't a bad read (in elementary in middle school). But, the name sounds rediculous!

Asterix and Oblix!!!!!

annandale1 -

Those are all good choices. If you like them, put down the one that you think might reveal something about you or somehow speaks to who you are. The only thing that putting Harry Potter will tell the adcoms is that you are just like every other kid.

I'm probably going to put down the Clash of Civilizations by Huntington (spelling?)

It is a good book that I feel reflects internaitonal relations today.
