is harvard, yale, etc a match for anyone? I'm asking in terms of scores, gpa, etc.

no . . . . .

Our president, and his 1200 SAT. IQ of 92.

IQ of 92? Nobody with a 1200 on the SAT has an IQ that low. The SAT is sort of like an IQ test x10.

Unless theres some magical formula that has been discovered to get into those schools with a 100% chance, nope.

Depends on what they look for year to year.

it's a match for me

It's a match for a qualified recruited athlete, high achieving URM, or a high achieving legacy. It's also a match for any qualified applicant with a superspecial talent, with demonstrated national-level achievement in that area. If you have a major connection, sure, it can be a match as well.

Anyone else, probably not.

Joey

it all depends. we'll see if it's a match for me in April. you never know, though.

"IQ of 92? Nobody with a 1200 on the SAT has an IQ that low. The SAT is sort of like an IQ test x10."
IQ tests are not all-powerful and reliable in measuring intelligence. All the SATs measure is academic intelligence. Big difference.
You cant judge someones intelligence by any standardised test result.

By the way if I'm captain of the school rugby team and we win some competitions is that enough? That and straight A's. and high ACT and SAT results.
I'm taking both this year.. Wish me luck!
by the way does a profesional preparation course for the SATs and ACTs help at all? I'm thinking about taking one.

noka:
it really isnt
before you start making claims you should uh, check up on your facts. slash not be an idiot.

"Our president, and his 1200 SAT. IQ of 92."

Are you trying to say a 1200 is a bad score? Because it's not. It may not exactly lie in the 'genius' area but I would never call someone with a 1200 SAT stupid

Sure. For URMs with 3.9+ unweighed GPA, a bunch of 5s on AP exams, a 1550+ on the SAT and a 2300+ on the SAT IIs, with very strong ECs, I would say that H,P,S,Y and M are matches.

agreed. SOMEONE has to get in.

A person with 1600 SAT 4.0 Unweighted GPA and ECs that would make mother Teresa look like a bad social worker.

Profile of the perfect applicant who does not have any sort of special circumstances (URM, recruited athlete, legacy):

Leadership: President of student body, started a community service program for underprivileged kids
Academics: 4000 SAT I/SAT II, 4.0 uw gpa, 8-10 AP courses
Special area of concentration (could be a hook): National awards in science research, math, theater, music, debate, anything like that. Even better: a combination of one of the above!
Essays: truly well-written essays about hardships or something like that, none of that corny crap. However, I think that if an applicant is strong in all of the previuos areas, he/she really doesn't need great essays.
Teacher recommendations: All "top in career" rankings with rave comments from teachers.

Those type of people do exist...

"You cant judge someones intelligence by any standardised test result"

Yes, that is true, but you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know that the President is an idiot!

Plus, I believe that he cheated on the SAT. He's to dumb to score a 1200.

No offense to Republicans (if any) on this board.

just because people get IN doesnt mean they are MATCHES.

even with perfect scores, i don't think anyone is a match. this has been repeated plenty of times i'm sure, but harvard rejects half its perfect score applicants each year...

Nobody, especially Bush!!

I think with enough money you can be a match.
