Is having back to back classes a problem?

Is there enough time to get to class?

Like a class from 2-3, then 3-4, then 4-5?

It's either that or wake up early for class, which isn't really what I want to do...

No, there is a ten minute passing period on MWF and 15 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday.

Each MWF class lasts 50 minutes, from the top of the hour to ten til, and then you have ten minutes to be at your next class. Each TTH class lets out 1:15 min after it started, giving you 15 min to get to the next class.

So for each 3 hour class you have 2:30 of instruction per week.

cool thanks…are professors strict about tardies like in high school? lol

I hope UT

Strict about tardies? No, I don’t think you’ll find it a problem, especially in lower levels which tend to be huge. You may find yourself with a sucky place to sit however.

Lol, tardies. Brings me back to high school. I’ve only ever had one class with an attendance policy. And actually, you weren’t allowed to be late in that class, but that class was weird. Going to class is your responsibility, as is when you show up. In an auditorium class, nobody will notice you showing up. In a large class, nobody will care as long as there is a door at the back of the room. However, in a smallish class or a class in which there is only a door at the front of the class, it could be considered rude to arrive late. I’ve done it before and felt really awkward about it. It’s definitely something you want to avoid.

Watch out because some classes have really strict attendance policies - like you’ll lose a letter grade - from an A to a B - if you are absent X number of times. In one of my classes he took attendance by having you answer questions at the beginning of/during class with an iclicker thing - basically this pointer that has A, B, C, D, E on it - and some days he’d ask just one question right when class started and then we’d watch a documentary and the people who came in late were out of luck.

Also if there is an attendance rule, dont skip discussion, some teachers count those absences too. I’ve had a class where we had a quiz every day so if you skipped you’d fail, basically.

I wouldn’t pick back to back if they were really far away from each other like a class in CPE and then your next class is in UTC or something.

The only time I ever had trouble with back-to-back classes was when I had to go all the way from UTC to NOA (which is pretty much all the way across campus). I had to leave the UTC class early to make my next one in time. It was small AND required attendance, so I felt compelled to be on time. So, as long as you don’t have your classes too far apart, you shouldn’t have any problem with back-to-back classes. And tardies are kind of a non issue.
