Is Hilfinger nice to 61b students?

Hey all,

Has anyone heard of Hilfinger giving a curve at the end of his class even if he said he doesn't in his syllabus?

so i have a bunch of EECS friends, they all said the exact same thing. Hilfinger will destroy you, but you will learn a lot.
so do u wanna learn, or do u want a nice gpa?
my roomate said the average was 6 out of 20 for the second midterm, but then I think Hilfinger gave them a 3rd midterm to make up their grades, so i guess he was nice, but only cuz its so hard in the first place (thats wat she said)

good luck

^ I heard the exact same thing from my EECS friends. Avoid him.

Well, Hilfinger gave 10 bonus points for filling out these surveys! His midterm is worth 20 points, so he basically gave you 50% of the points for free! That’s pretty nice, plus he drops one of his monster exams.

Actually I’m looking at the class statistics right now and it doesn’t really seem like much a curve will be necessary to get to the required average GPA (due to so many bonus points and the bonus on proj3). The time pressure (plus difficult problems) is what makes his exam so hard, but for the final we had A LOT of time so the average will probably higher than for his midterms. Maybe he will be very lenient in grading the final exams? But I’m not sure, he might as well curve it, but it will probably help you less than you think.

PS: I liked him and didn’t find the class half bad or difficult. But it was A LOT of work, it should’ve been 6 units ; )

So true. Does anyone know when grades are going to be out for his class?
