Is Homosexuality genetic?

I think lesbians are gross.

Don't tell me it's wrong. I don't care.

I don't think it's like...their fault, but it's still gross.

No, I don't.

I think some lesbians are hot, but not when they're together.

No, I don't think girls in general are gross.

Jonathan,

I think it's gross too. :) I think it's just sick.

Wait Jonathan is 13?

nevermind. disregard him.

hahhaa.

No, I want to hear your theory, I AM SPONED.

I thought that it was a contagious disease?

<a href="http://www.jrn.columbia.edu/studentwork/cns/2002-06-10/591.asp%5B/url%5D">http://www.jrn.columbia.edu/studentwork/cns/2002-06-10/591.asp</a></p>

I thought this was so cute! GAY PENGUINS

Indeed. Their relationship is truly something to aspire to. I think I'll look up that book Biological Exuberance. For a long time, I've wanted to study homosexual animals.

It seems to be a nature v. nurture kind of debate. I think it's a bit of both. My personal theory is that there is some gene that when activated by something in your environment produces a tendency to be homosexual. I don't think it's wholly a choice or wholly genetic.

Nobody quite knows yet, although I am one to lean on the side of nurture.

i don't know if its genetic, but remember that until the 1970s or 1980s, homosexuality was considered a disease

i'd say it's genetic.
no one would choose to be shunned by society and go through the "coming out" process (you don't just wake up one day and realize, "hey, i'm gay!" It's an internal struggle throughout adolesence)

also, gays have existed since history was recorded. in fact, Socrates and Alexander the Great were both gay. so was John Keynes (the economist) there's a whole list of famous gays here: <a href="http://www.lambda.org/famous.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.lambda.org/famous.htm</a>
it's not like all of the sudden in the 1900s the idea of being homosexual came about. if you're heterosexual, you don't choose to like the opposite sex, you just know you are attracted to the opposite sex. i'd argue the same is the case for homosexuals. the people who argue nurture claim it's based on the environment, but there are gay families whos kids are straight. and then there are straight families whose children are gay.

anyways, that's my 2cents. i think it's genetic.

Why do people care what another person’s orientation is? Just like aznnrubberducky said homosexuality isn't new, and there are recordings of homosexual animals as well. I wish our government would stop making this a priority and focus on more important issues. Same sex marriage is not an important issue.

Uhh...

what?

Yeah, I agree that it's not the most important issue, but it's sure as hell important.

How is it important?

Because it's wrong.

Marriage was meant to be between a man and a woman.

Officially marriage is for reproduction if you're going by the bible. Does that mean that infertile couples should not be allowed to be married, or how about the elderly? Not to mention that most homosexual couples don't necessarily want to be recognized by the church. They want to be able to have the same healthcare, to visit their partners in the hospital, and to adopt. It can't be made into a religious thing because not everyone shares the same religion. I was not raised a Christian and with the philosophy I was raised with homosexuality is not frowned upon. Therefore religion has to be taken out of it. If you personally think it is gross then grow up.

^ u are sharp.

i think homosexuality is a "big" issue because of the idea that homosexuality is wrong. BUT why is it wrong? being homosexual isn't a bad thing. it's not a disease, and it's not a negative attribute. being homosexual is simply that, being homosexual. it does not mean living a life of sin or living a life that is wrong. it means that you are attracted to a member of the same sex and wish to pursue loving relationships with that person. that's all. there's nothing else to it.

during the civil rights era, being black was a bad thing... it ment you were inferior or of lower status. we now know how wrong we were.

we have learned that everyone should be treated equally, right? except for homosexuals? there's a double standard in today's society. i think homosexuals are facing the same thing women and blacks have faced in the past. hopefully, society can move forward and accept people for who they are.

homophobia is something that does not make sense to me either. It's not like a homosexual is going to start hitting on you. If you're straight, they know you're outta their league. It's just like a heterosexual relationship: A guy is not going to hit on a girl that he is not attracted to. There's no reason for homophobia.

aznrubberducky I do agree with you. I agree that it's a big issue because people think it's wrong. What I meant was that it shouldn't be a big issue because there are so many other issues that are more significant.
