I got accepted into the honors college for one of my choices for a potential school (OSU) and did not get accepted into honors college for my other choice (Purdue). Should I let this be a deciding factor?
Depends on what your are looking for. What are the pros and cons of each choice as they stand (in your mind?)
@sceovi My S has both those colleges on his list and just visited Purdue on Monday. I don’t think not being accepted into Purdue’s honors college should be a deciding factor. You can always apply to Purdue’s honors college as a student if you meet their requirements (gpa, etc is listed online). Some honors programs offer other incentives-one of my son’s other schools offered a study abroad stipend. Many honors programs are different. Personally, I think you need to look at the school’s program and tuition differences (in state, OOS). BIG THING- can you picture yourself attending class there daily AND living there socially for the next 4-5 years. If you are down to those two choices, I think they are both good choices and you cannot go wrong with either one.
Thank you so much for your help!
@Fishnlines29 For me, the pros of honors college is priority scheduling, better dorms, and the networking opportunities. The cons are that sometimes the honors curriculum requires students to take classes that make no progression towards their major if you understand what I mean
Yes, so I would go with better program/better fit and feel for you.
