My son went to the NU I’m town presentation. Applied RD. Not able to commit to ED due to financials. Family health problems have limited traveling if it is important my husband can take him for a visit Presidents weekend.
Level of Interest not as important as grades, strength of schedule, ECs, essay per the Common Data Set - Page 7: http://enrollment.northwestern.edu/pdf/common-data/2014-15.pdf Good Luck!
And yet they take half of their class ED and that’s the ultimate sign of demonstrated interest.
A visit is far from the only way to show interest. How you reflect your match in your app/supp is much more important than visiting, when you have a legit reason a trip is tough. Without this in the app, a visit isn’t a trump card. And your child did go to the local event.
If this was any other time it’s an easy trip for us. Just not this year
My husband and son are visiting tomorrow. I looked at the data set. My son addresses his reduced EC’s. In his freshman/sophomore years due to headaches post concussion from a head injury playing on the freshman team. The other important items he is up at the top. So we will see. Crossing my fingers.
