Just wondering...for the RD people, is Princeton going to call and set up an interview? Or do we call them? And is it required?

No, it's not required - but if someone contacts you for one, don't turn them down unless they live on the far side of the moon and want to do it on the day you're certain you'll discover the cure for cancer. Even then, try to reschedule it. I'm not exactly sure how they're done in the States; I imagine the alumni committee in your area will contact you (usually over phone); I know that's how they do it abroad (and how they say they do it on the website).

Hi, I have a interview-related question: applicants will have interviews after they send in their apps, right? Does that mean RD people will probably have interviews in Jan if they submit their apps late in Dec?

RD applicants can have their interviews from January until the end of February. It depends on when your local alumni commitee receives notification from Princeton. However, interviews, if administered, must be completed before March.

How do they contact u abroad?

callthecops: They should call your home, usually over the weekend. Don't worry though, and give them time.

Thanks a lot, Schwaby.
callthecops: I think you should initiate contact with alumni (if available) in your local city.

does princeton (and other colleges) send a copy of your application, so that the interviewer has your entire life in front of them?

nope. My interviewer had nothing to go on. Just my name. It was fun and so much better that way; it makes the conversation much less restricted.

My interviewer seemed to know something about me - she mentioned something about, "Your academics and stuff seems really impressive" - but she didn't have a file folder or anything.

how do i know if there's an alumni interviewer in my area?

You'll be contacted if there is. If there isn't, you won't.
