hmmm idk. the stats are a bit below average so irvine might be a reach. goodluck though.

i think your test scores are pretty good. GPA may be below average, but test scores are amazing compared to some of the people I know… I’m pretty sure they’re higher than mine too. however, maybe someone who’s a freshman now would give more accurate information on what stats you need. maybe my idea of UCI is outdated :(.
what major are you aiming for? because that will definitely affect your chances

Look under my posts and see what my stats were, since they seem pretty similar to yours. My best recommendation, take the ACT, take the ACT, take the ACT. Now.

it’s kind of too late to take the ACT for me (never looked at it) but I’m planning to major in Civil Engineering (my alternative is Electrical Engineering)

Hopefully those aren’t hard majors to get into

yahoowizard have you been accepted into UC Irvine already?

Well, major actually isn’t that big a determinant, since UC’s know that you can just change the major during the summer before you join, after you get in. That way, majors don’t really matter unless you’re transferring in as a junior or if you’re going to grad school. But yeah, I’m a freshman at UCI currently, and I got accepted to UCD, too, but nothing above those. I’d say I hit the bare minimum in terms of specs, since we had a load of people apply and the average GPA of those who got in was 4.01 or 4.1 or something (my UCW was 3.53ish). Most people here tend to have like, low SAT’s and high GPA’s, so yeah, good luck.

All in all, yeah, it’s getting harder to get in each year. I think this year was the most people who applied to UCI than ever ,before and due to an increasing trend, we can say that more people will apply next year, too.

oh. this certainly doesn’t look to good for me… i have high SATs (1910) but low GPA (UC GPA 3.55)

you think I have a chance this year? And does UCD and UCI have relatively the same competitiveness to be admitted to

I think UCD is a bit more random in their selections, with people with better stats than me getting rejected from UCD, but it’s weird all in all. I mean, I actually wasn’t sure what was going to happen with me, and thought I was well set, but it was after I got in that I learned I sort of lucked myself into UCI. Then again, I don’t know, you do have sports and better EC’s than I did so I’m not sure how it’s going to go for you all in all. All I can say is good luck and getting into UCI is a fairly high probability.

hopefully i can get into irvine, because everyone seems to have like a 4.01 GPA average… But UCI is definately my first choice college.
