SAT II-->680 Biology 780 American History 560 German

Extra Curriculars
Ran an inter-school debate project that involved booking twenty school and setting up my school, etc. for an entire marking period

German Club-->Freshman to Senior

Volunteer with the local fire department frequently

Work up to 40 hours a week and play a critical role in my workplace

I won an award which allowed me to study in Germany for a month over the summer and wrote a killer essay about it. Despite my bad SAT II in German, I am a great speaker and my teacher wrote me a great recc. letter.

My other essay was very good, but I won't say it's outstanding.

I won several awards (some national) for my photography

Go ahead and apply. It’s not like you have a 2.4 GPA and 1400/2400 SATs. You have a shot, what do you have to lose by just trying?

Your test scores below average but your GPA is solid. If you included more information about what type of classes, how many AP/IB HL, etc you took in HS - it would help gauge in what context your GPA would stand at.

Your ECs are pretty unique (national awards for photography) and the fact you work 40 hr/wk is pretty substantial. You should submit a portfolio on your work as well.

APPLY! I have seen people with lower test scores get in. It’s not ALL about the scores. Send a photography portfolio and be sure to stress that you work 40 hrs a week while maintaining a 4.2 GPA. That’s impressive. By the way it sounds, I’m sure your essay is pretty unique and intriguing.

Out of curiosity, where in Germany did you study? I’ve been to most major cities in the country and I love Deutschland.

i’ve actually been taking the hardest schedule possible this year: every class is either AP or IB and i’ve taken plenty of honors, advanced, and AP classes for the past four years.

oh and mooseman: i studied with the Goethe at Hohenwart…it’s a suburb of Pforzheim

Well your ACT scoring isn’t bad. I know a girl who got a 27 on hers and is now at Notre Dame, but she is also legacy. But still, you have a lot of good things for your application

the most important criteria by which notre dame evaluates an applicant is the rigor of your high school courses (collegeboard.com). given that you have taken mostly APs and honors and have a 3.9 gpa, i think you’ll be fine.

really diverse list. William and Mary has a really sick campus; if it weren’t for the financial aid, distribution requirements, and a few other things, I’d definitely go there.

Definitely apply; I applied with similar stats and similar-level ECs and was waitlisted, but you won’t get admitted if you don’t apply! ND is a great school and you lose nothing by applying, so give it your best shot and good luck!

the more and more i think of it, the less confident i feel about getting accepted to any of my schools besised UR, my stats just aren’t fantastic

LiLawyer, relax. Your test scores are still well above average (maybe a little bit below for ND, but still.) and you have a tough courseload with a stellar GPA! No point in worrying about it now. Just wait until the letters come in!
