<p>Well obviously........schools in areas like the carribean and countries like London are real strict ((accoring to what I heard)).....I heard academics over their is strict to the bone and they don't play so obviously when they come to appply for schools over here they bump American kids out the slot........</p>
<p>Do american kids that receive Rhode scholarships to Oxford do the same to british kids by taking their spots?</p>
<p>A girl from my school was an IB diploma candidate, and she got into Stanford. She got good grades, and decent test scores. She wasn't involved in a ton of EC's, but obviously was involved in enough to get into Stanford. She's pretty intelligent, but not an olympian (lol).....pretty much an engaged, nice, down-to-earth person from the midwest.</p>
<p>I think if you have good enough credentials, in the end it's just a random shot to get into the really high profile, top notch schools. One guy from my school got rejected from Stanford ED and then was accepted into Harvard with a full ride.<br>
So yeah, it is hard, but if you really want to go there then at least give it a shot.</p>
