I apply to ILR as my first choice school and CAS as my alternate?

No

No

How hard is it to transfer from ILR to CAS or to another school? I’m not intent on doing the backdoor way but is it a relatively simple process?

What would the backdoor way be?

I would ask ILR or, if applicable, your sibling (who in a previous post you said went to Cornell). But from what I have heard it is completely possible because of the similarity of the programs. Since you have shown interests in CALS and CAS and ILR I would encourage you to utilize the alternate option.

@Kungpaoasian By backdoor way I mean how some people apply to the easier school and then transfer to their actual desired school after the first semester

How difficult is to transfer programs though? And I was told that its very rare that applicants are handed to their alternate school of choice if they are rejected from their first school, and that its a bad idea to apply to a secondary choice because its difficult to fully and convincingly convey your passion for both schools in your supplements, even if you do ILR and AEM for example. But ILR, CAS, and AEM are really the only schools/majors I’m interested in and they’re similar in some respects.
