Is it a bad idea to take 2 physics classes and 2 math classes in one semester?

I am preparing to transfer and I need to finish these classes.
I’ll be taking Physics 2 and Physics 3 while also taking Calc 3 and Linear Algebra & Differential Equations (one class).
Is this a really bad idea?

If Physics 2 is a pre-requisite for Physics 3, or if Calc 3 is a pre-requisite for Linear Algebra and Diff Eq, then yes, trying to take them simultaneously is a bad idea.

@happymomof1 calc 3 and physics 2 are not pre reqs for linear algebra/de and physics 3

If you really like and are good at physics and math, and have completed the prerequisites, then that should not be more difficult than other combinations of courses of similar credit value. But note that physics labs can be time consuming.

Physics 2 is the hardest of the physics sequence 1-3. It looks like you’ll be taking it together with calculus 3 which will definitely help but it won’t since the the material to do well in physics 2 is the last chapter of calculus 3. Also, I don’t recommend linear algebra combined with differential equations especially if you are taking physics 3 on top of that. Is there a reason why you want to take physics 3 with physics 2? I’m guessing linear algebra will be combined with differential equations.

Perfectly good idea if you love math/science and hate writing essays

@embemonkey - Sorry that what I wrote wasn’t clear.

What I should have written is:
If Physics 2 is a pre-req for Physics 3, don’t take those two physics classes at the same time.
If Calc 3 is a pre-req for Linear Algebra and Diff Eq, don’t take those two math classes at the same time.

@NASA2014 The schools that I’m applying to for transfer require finishing the whole physics series at a CC to be a competitive applicant

If you’ve fulfilled the pre-requisites for all of the classes, and none are pre-reqs for others, then they are just 4 historically difficult classes being taken at the same time.

If you have a strong science/math background, then you could be OK.

Just be aware that you are tackling several difficult courses all at once.

Sorry, No, you are setting yourself up for a disaster. Can you just transfer in Winter instead? Also make sure the classes transfer cleanly to your target school. Many CC classes in math and science don’t transfer cleanly.
