Is it a bad idea to use somewhat cliched phrases?

I'm writing the intro of a rough idea of an essay, and starting in the midst of the action of the event. As it reaches the climax, is it advisable to end the intro with "And as they say, the rest was history." ? I'm aware that this is pretty cliched, but should I absolutely avoid it? I think it sounds all right in context, but I'm of course biased. Thanks!

Always find your own words.

Yes 10char

Yeah, I would try to avoid cliched phrases, because your own words would be better at expressing your experiences than someone else’s. Just try to make it flow as naturally as possible.
