I wasnt going to accept any decision from any college until march or april (most likley april) because I still have to visit campuses and havent gotten all my decisions yet from colleges. I heard housing at PSU is based on when you accept, will accepting later put me in a bad place in terms of housing?
Unless you’re in Schreyer, accepting last-minute will put you at the bottom of the housing pool. I accepted like two days before the deadline. Had I not gotten honors housing I would have been in supplemental with 3, 5, or 7 roommates.
Supplemental isn’t “bad”…it just means instead of having one roommate, you have many. They convert lounges into dorm rooms. Some kids are initially disappointed but then end up liking it. The other option is to put the $330 deposit down which puts you in line. But you forfeit that money if you decide not to attend.
PSU is doing renovations in East Halls, so my guess is freshman housing in traditional rooms will go faster than in other years.
how do I pay for housing deposit? and can I do it even if I haven’t accepted? is it in the PSU portal? Im most likely going to accept PSU so I wanna make sure I at least get one of my choices.
Your acceptance and housing deposit are one in the same. When you accept through the portal you will be charged $330 and then you are “in line” for housing.
I’m sorry, I know it can be confusing. When you accept your offer, you are automatically placed in the housing queu. So you accept the offer, and the housing is a part of that. You CAN later withdrawal your acceptance, but you will not get the fee returned. Does that make sense? .
My son was accepted to university park but we werent planning on visiting the campus until 'March 15. Will it be too late to accept at end of March to get decent housing choice? Thanks
@lrc1998 March should be ok. The only issue is East Halls is starting renovations so I think there will be less housing next year than this year. But generally, I think March is not too late.
