Is it a big deal if I don't see the dorms before I begin in the fall??

I went to Highlander Day, but I missed the housing tour cuz I keep getting lost. :/
I really wanted to see all the dorms before I made my choice..but unfortunately I couldn't. My first dorm choice is East Lothian. I think I might get East Lo. Hopefully! I heard east lo is great :)
So my question is that should I go to ucr and see the dorms before I move in? It's kinda hard to buy like organizers/bookcases/etc since, I don't know if it will fit in the dorm or not. I don't know how big it is.

Move in. See the room. Go to Target/Walmart/BBB.

Keep everything you buy small. There isn’t a lot of room.

[Housing Services - Lothian](Lothian | UCR Housing Services)

There are the dimensions… if you want to imagine what size it is.

By the way, I just saw that move in date is 9/20-9/21… Do we get notified which day we move in… or can we go on the 20th? O_O

it depends some ppl get the 20 some get 21

well the desks have like a shelf on top so u kinda have a bookcase already

I slept in a triple East Lo during Honors and there wasnt much room. There was a desk and a top shelf, a chair, fridge and microwave. East person gets their own closet. There wasnt much room for extra furniture or other stuff.

Well, maybe cuz you had a triple. I’m doing double so I think there is more room no?

I heard the 19th was also a viable date…

I checked out double East Lo as well. If felt like the double was more crowded. Triple had more room. The room size was about almost imo

I’m wondering how much of a move I should make. Most people don’t bring all of their stuff do they?

No, they don’t. =) I’m leaving my winter clothes at home until it actually gets cold… There’s actually a lot of stuff I’m leaving behind. lol

yea there isnt that much room in the first place. The closet they have at the dorm is smaller than half of my closet

I just look at the layout for Pentland dorms, and it looks like the dorms have more space than the other resident halls. Since the bed, dresser and the desk is a connected. Does it have more space?

no e lo has more. p hills seemed small and werent connected

You can put the dresser under the bed if you want. Saves space! =) I’m gonna do that at East Lo. That makes the bed EXTRA tall though. I need a stool to help me up. LOL. zzz :|

Low beds are cooler

easier to reach stuff wherever it is

ur that short ?

Well, I remember at pentland the dresser, bed, and desk took up a whole wall. The dresser covered half of the closet. I was like wt F. :expressionless: I think you can rearrange it however you want. I will have to look and see. :o

5’2-5’3? I remember I had a triple for orientation, I had to go on part of the stairs and then climb onto the bed that had a dresser underneath it. But my memory is a bit fuzzy idk D:

The adventure of going into your dresser sounds like a ton of fun!

man I wanted to bust out laughing right now
