Is It A Big Deal?

other people on threads of other colleges seem to be making it big deal the georgetown is a catholic school, but i don't really see it that much. i don't go there(i'm a hs junior), but i live in DC, i go to school literally blocks away from georgetown and a non-catholic private school and i am a catholic...is it really a big deal?

I'd say the Catholic tradition is definitely there if you want to be involved in it, but it is very easy to avoid if you don't care for it. The only things that it really affects are the availibility of condoms/birthcontrol on or near campus or at the hospital, which is an inconvenience, but nothing a walk to CVS won't solve... There is a great deal of religious diversity, and you can find groups/services catering to pretty much any spiritual/religious faith you belong to.

It's really as Catholic or not as you want to be. If you're Catholic and are big on your faith I'm sure Georgetown would be a great place for you and if not it would be equally a great place. I've met people of just about every faith background/no faith background imaginable here. I don't think you can completely forget it's a Catholic school, but I've gotten pretty close.
