Senior year has been hard for students in my school too.
My best friend has a D on her midterm for spanish and she has F's all through.
Two other friends have been getting As and Bs on their stat grades but F's on their midterms.
I've been doing pretty well but I had a low grade on my AP midterms.
Does it matter if you get a bad grade all through a class shows that youve been struggling and even if shes trying her best shes just not getting it?
Does it also matter if youre doing pretty well in the class but your midterm was just a really bad midterm..?
Will they revoke a student for either of those situations?

In college, around 75% of your grade is usually based on test scores, so it doesn’t really matter to them if you only got a bad grade because of tests. If you get below a C, that will end up causing problems, and if they aren’t cleared up you end up rescinded.

DreamAwake is this post for real? Are your friends exaggerating to make you feel better? It’s odd to know three seniors taking advanced courses and moving on the “F” train. How will they do in college? It’s much harder than high school.

In any case, regardless of what they told you, if your grade on the midterm is in fact something close to an F, it is a big deal. You’ve got this far in your school career. You may need to honker down and get that grade up to the B level. In case it falls to a C you may be okay, but why risk it?

Yes, its a big deal. go study.

As far as I know, only over-all grade is counted. So for the A/B class grades but terrible finals, they should be fine (as long as credit is given for the class). If you midterm sucks, it may affect your overall grade, but if that’s still good, you should be fine. Failing is never good, and the policy of withdrawing acceptance probably varies widely from school to school.

That being said, failing everything is BAD. Bad grades (C, D, F)? BAD. I’ve got a few grades on the borderline of B’s, which I hate. So you and I can buckle down and study because I don’t want to test any theories about withdrawing acceptances. F’s will probably get a withdrawal.

They only look at the overall grade.

That being said, do colleges give otherwise strong students a pass? E.G. If someone got one F in second semester of senior year but As in everything else, will they still be rescinded?

If you get a single F on your straight A record, you MAY be able to work something out. But it’s far from a guarantee, and you will absolutely be rescinded if you just think “I won’t bother bringing it up, they won’t care”.

Thanks for your help everyone. Except for Beautifulnights, obviously I’m studying. Im not a slacker.

And for everyone else, I dont have any F’s on my report card, but lets just say those two midterm grades weren’t the best. As far as classes go, I’ve only had B’s and A’s and I’m currently working hard to get that B in ap up to an A. For the other AP class I have an A-. So the midterms werent exactly “favorable” to the students in my school.

I’m definitely not exaggerating about those students who havent been doing that well.
My best friend who had an F all through spanish, thats for real. spanish 4.
For the other two in my ap math class theyve gotten Fs on their midterms but As in their class for that particular midterm.

Haha heyy I gave my two cents! I deserve a shout out. And you studying is not “obvious” by your grades/ senioritis (how would i be able to infer you were?) So thank you, thank you bow.

I have pretty good grades. I studied hard for both my exams except I thought they were really hard. Just because two of my midterm grades werent great it doesnt mean im dumb. Sorry Im not perfect like you lol

It’s effect specifically on college admissions depends on what your school shows in its midyear report. If it doesn’t show midterm grades and only the semester grade as a whole, you’re fine.

However, this doesn’t bode well for college courses, which (has been said) are test-centric. Assuming this isn’t mere senioritis (and I imagine something as drastic as an “F” isn’t mere senioritis), your friends should work on your test-taking skills before college.

The midyear report does show midterm grades, but the thing is that some of the colleges havent required midyear reports. Does this mean when I graduate they still check on everything or do they just see the final grades and the final class rank?

And yeah they probably should. Everyones trying to get grades back up for the last few months.

“Thanks for your help everyone. Except for Beautifulnights”

hahahahahaa.
