I just wondering is it a good hook to be Russian citizen? Also, parent is prominent Russian journalist...D. published some work herself...

As long as you ain’t one of them commies.

Yes it’s a good hook. Schools always like to say that they have people from a large number of countries.

No, we are not communists, the opposite, father even in the notorious Putin’s list “Enemies of Russia”.
Thank you very much!

It definitely helps, especially if you currently live in Russia and you speak Russian.

Your parent publishing a book is certainly not a “hook”. Being of Russian heritage is not, on itself, a hook–unless the school is severely cut on geographic diversity. Are you a resident of Russia? Have you lived there your whole life? Being a citizen residing in America, unless your Russian ethnicity has shaped you in any significant way, is probably not a hook.

Geographic diversity is not always a hook, though many times it can be. Also, for American schools, geographic diversity will cater first to those from unknown USA states before countries. Chances are, also, that one person from Russia is already going to these schools, which severely undercuts the necessity for a Russian in specific (after that, I have heard, geography is either intl or American).

I agree, however, with thingslost. It probably helps. Idk if it’s a hook.

Thanks a lot to everybody! I really appreciated!
