Is it a good idea to contact your adcom with questions about the college?

...in order express your interest in the school?

Or is it considered annoying?

And do most colleges freely give out his or her e-mail?

A friend of mine, after having an interview with his adcom at UPenn, said that she likes students who show interest through this means.

I think it depends on the college and of course the admissions counselor. I have the emails of two counselors from the college I'll be attending next year: they've always been good with sending and answering emails.

just don't ask about stuff that is on their website and readily available....

Most colleges have the emails of AdComs on the admissions website and some colleges do take "demonstrated interest" into account in the admissions process. That said, only email if you have legitimate questions that you cannot find the answer for on your own on the Internet. I'm guessing it becomes annoying (and might even hurt you) if you repeatedly email with obvious questions or email just for the sake of emailing.

And make sure you don't mix up the college names, like that time I said Yale when i emailed princeton...yeah...don't do that.
