Is it a good idea to double major in Finance/Math?

what do you think

What are your post-graduation goals?

Yeah+10chArActErs.

im planning to do the same assuming i decide to enroll in NYU Stern...i'd like to apply to graduate programs in finance, such as Masters in Finance at Princeton, Masters in Financial Engineering at Columbia etc... a simple undergrad business major just wont cut it for admissions at those programs...for those who wanna work in hedge funds, or work as quants/traders, u prolly might need to know a lotta math....ive heard traders use a lotta complex math models for pricing derivatives, options, futures etc...if u just want to go into i banking, then you wont need that much math because the level of math you use there does not exceed pre calculus

I think I want to be a trader

So based on that, it looks like I'm gonna have to double major in finance/math

yea i wanna be a trader too...not really interested in I-banking...if i hopefully get into Columbia, i'll do financial engineering...if i get into U Penn, im gonna double major in finance + Comp Sci....

Certainly don't have to, but it would definitely be helpful. Most traders don't require the type of financial engineering math. That coursework is generally most helpful for Quants... the one's that build the models that the traders use.
