Is it a good idea too...

compile a list of words that can be used in any AP English essays like: coherent, cogent, fluid, eloquent, etc. Will these semi-generic words help improve the vocab at all? Just a curious thought. Im desperate...

no, the readers are everyday readers, and they do NOT want to see over blown, pompous language. I was just reading about that in my barron's book and i was on the reader's comment section for this one writer taking the test who use only lieke 3 big words, and the reader was like your use of words are too wordy. All in all though that person got a 9 on that particular essay.

I didn't really mean pompous, overly bookish words. More like words that is in between pompous and generic, like coherent and fluid. Cliffnote high-scoring essays use lots of those, though I doubt that they are actually student essays produced in 40 minutes.
