Is it Almost Time for Winter Transfer 2014 Notifications?

Ugh... This is the second time I have played the UW Seattle waiting game and I have to say it is no more fun the second time than it was the first. I had originally applied for Fall 2013, but received a phone call from the Assistant Director of Admissions strongly encouraging me to reapply for winter as I am an extremely non-traditional student and needed two more classes than my advisor and I had originally thought. When I initially spoke with him, he stated that notification would be out in October despite what the website said; however, when I inquired with admission just recently they referred me to the website notification period. It is extremely stressful waiting for a decision, especially the second time around. I have already been admitted to UW Tacoma and WSU, but I have children and WSU would require the relocation of my entire family. My issue with Tacoma is the major I was admitted into is not my major of choice. I am just hoping that anyone who has been a winter UW Seattle transfer student could potentially give me a time frame of when they received a decision on their application? I have tried keeping myself extra busy to avoid stressing even after I told myself I was going to enjoy my last quarter at my CC. Instead, I am taking three classes, tutoring Anthropology and Spanish, and participate in activities with my kids! That said, no matter how busy I am, I still have time to worry :)

It’s weird that the advisor told you the notifications would be out early…historically they have been out in mid to late November. See this thread about Winter 2012 transfers http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-washington/1234015-winter-2012-transfers-accepted-denied-pending-11.html …everyone was being notified around the 20th of November, some even later than that.

I seem to recall reading in some other transfer thread that Winter 2013 notifications were a bit faster, around the 13th of November.

It is strange, and I wouldn’t have taken it to heart had it not been told to me by the Assistant Director of admissions. I guess I was just being optimistic and hoping we would hear back a little early; however, from the sounds of it Ill be having a few more sleepless nights than I bargained for. Thanks for the response!

Well I guess it could be one of two things: we will be notified early, and the phone staff are just unwilling to confirm. Or, it could be that the Assistant Director predicted the notification would be out early, but they’re running later than they first thought.

On October 3, I got a request to send in some additional documents…so at least I know they’ve looked at my application! It’s so difficult knowing they’ve probably already made a decision on it, I just don’t know what it is yet…argh! :)

It is extremely unnerving to know that someone else is already aware of your status yet has not shared it with you. My wait time on my application with UW Tacoma was literally 7-10 days, and while I realize there are substantial differences in the size of the campus, student body, and number of applicants, it just makes the lengthy wait time for the Seattle campus that much more agonizing.

Whoop! Just logged into MyUw website and tried the unofficial transcript link “trick.” I’ve been trying this since I first applied back in August. Usually I get a dead link notification. Tonight it actually worked and took me to my unofficial UW transcript! I’ve got a UW student ID number and it shows my standing as a Junior!

Although I didn’t get my gold envelope yet, it’s official!

As of Winter 2014, I’m a UW Seattle Husky!

Congrats! I have a transcript already from Tacoma, but I just looked under registration and it switched my intended major from the one I applied to in Tacoma, to my major of choice in Seattle!!!

Congratulations guys! I’ve had no change in my unofficial transcript, but I am currently enrolled at UW as a non-matriculated student. So I will probably just have to wait for the letter, unfortunately.

Congrats to you too, JSmith210!

@Candela 2, I also have a Tacoma transcript, but noticed the change under the registration tab where my previous intended major had been Tacomas Law and Policy, and it switched to Anthropology just tonight. You should check it out :)

Unfortunately it still has me listed as non-matriculated. Does your Registration panel say “Autumn 2013” or “Winter 2014”? Mine just has Autumn 2013 and no details for Winter.

Yea, still says autumn, but I don’t assume that will change until the 8th when registration actually begins.

To be honest, I think there’s a strong possibility I’ve been accepted; however, until I have the letter as confirmation, I will remain cautiously optimistic :)

Definitely…your registration changed to your major at UW Seattle, it wouldn’t make sense for that to happen unless you were accepted. I’m worried because mine hasn’t changed at all, but I just have to remember that as a currently enrolled Non-Matric it may be different for me. But it is frustrating that a few people are able to to get serious clues as to their status, and I have to wait a week for the letter! Argh! :)

Right now my Unofficial transcript is frozen on a date several hours ago. I keep refreshing it but the “time prepared” doesn’t change. This happened to someone here in 2012 and that person got rejected. So…hopefully this doesn’t mean anything =

Lol. I know its hard , but don’t read too much into things. That happened to mine about a week ago, but when I logged back and logged back in it was fine. I don’t really think its indicative of anything. I know that I have read on here that those of us that already have transcripts don’t notice changes until a little later than those who didn’t. Easier said than done, but don’t let it stress you.

Its official!!! My transcript changed from Tacoma to Seattle!

Congrats Jsmith210! Bring on “the BIG envelope!”

Not sure if this belongs here, but how are people usually notified of their major decision if it’s competitive? Is it by letter as well?

I’m also wondering how you will be notified of major decision if its competitive. I applied for the business major.
