It seems like all the classes have a waitlist of at least 10 people.

And the classes that don't have a waitlist, interfere with another class in my schedule.

Should I try waitlisting a class and hope that I get in?

It’s probably always been like this for incoming freshman for as long as the system’s been implemented, next quarter it’ll go by who has the most cumulative units or credits. But unfortunately I can’t really tell you what you should do, I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction. I’ll let an experienced student offer advice lol

Just keep an eye on Webreg (it’s updated in real-time, unlike some ■■■■■■■■ Ivy Leagues who can’t get their computer systems coordinated) and there should be spots opening in most of the lectures soon.

It depends. If you are in a competitive field (say, biology) and you are not ahead of your classmates in credits, then yes.
