Is it an automatic rejection of you submit a college app late?

I applied to NYU regular decision and I was stupid that I didn’t check when to submit it and just assumed 11:59 my local time when it was actually due 11:59 eastern time. Therefore, I submitted my application about 30 minutes late. Is that an automatic rejection?

My guess is they’ll accept it.

You can roll the dice and say nothing. You can call anonymously and ask.

You can email your AO…but then you bring attention to it. Perhaps you have a viable excuse although it doesn’t sound it.

If they don’t accept it, they shouldn’t keep your fee.

btw - some schools have extended deadlines even if they haven’t listed on their website - perhaps NYU is one.

It’s a tough situation…but a lesson…don’t wait til the end.

Good luck.

Schools seem to give a bit of a grace period. You should be fine.

My application to Emory two cycles ago was late by a full day, and I was eventually accepted. I didn’t contact an AO for the reason pointed above–I didn’t want to bring attention to it. Honestly, as long as the application portal is still open, you’ll be fine.

It is due 11:59 your local time, Common App says so even though it shows that you submitted it late.
