Okay not knocking jonathans thread down on preppy stuff. But what the hell! Is it some honor to be preppy? I mean who really gives a ****! I'm just saying this to kids who put on there Abercrombie outfits everyday to impress who? I wear J. crew, and Raulph lauren occasionally. I love to wear Old Navy as someone I know once said "cheap and nasty clothes" who cares! I wear what I want and I don't even care what I wear as long as I'm not naked or in something absurd like a diaper. :p So I want to know what is the honor to wearing prep clothing?

1) impress friends

2) show off for know reason

3) Be a snob

I couldn't think of anything but these things. And yes they are basically the same.

o.o To tell you the truth I really don't know about it being an honor. I'm pretty sure it's because the clothes are comfortable or that they like the style. xD

Ummm..... Old Navy is comfy. Gap is too.

What makes an outfit with a amazing name on it so big.

For girls, would be the design, I'm pretty sure. Old Navy might be comfy for you, but might not be for people who shop at Abercrombie. =]

From Urban Dictionary:

A true preppy is someone who:
Wears, but is not limited to, Polo, Lilly, Brooks Brothers, Lacoste, LL Bean (ie duck boots), ribbon belts, prints (ie cords with embroidered whales, palm trees, etc), sweaters tied around the neck, collar always popped, looks neat and put together. Hair ribbons or ribbon headbands, pearls, and other classic jewelry pull the look together. Preppies are partial to monogrammed and engraved items (ie tote bags, oxford shirts, jewelry, money clips, etc). Colors are always brite (favorites include pink and lime green). Preppies may not always match EXACTLY but they are always coordinated. Hats are worn (ie polo player, Lacoste, Brooks Brothers), but they are unique- not designs you would see in the mainstream and the "mall".
Preppies often attend prep schools (ie Middlesex School, Governor Dummer Academy, and Belmont Hill) followed by New England private colleges.
They are confident and unafraid to express their own styles and be daring in their fashions. Preppies vacation on Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Delray Beach, and on the coast of Maine. These vacation locales are places their families have been going to for years, and have histories there.
It is a common misconception that preppies are snobs. Many people view them as unapproachable, and as a result mislabel them. Preppies are not as rich as people may think they are, but they are often well off. They buy into classics rather than trends, and don't change their lifestyles with fads.
Preppies tend to have bizarre connections with other preppies they meet, always finding mutual friends/ family and people that run in the same circle.

Preppies don't:
* Wear tight, skin exposing clothing (ie fitted Abercrombie sexual tshirts with tight flared jeans)
* Limit themselves to mall shopping and chain stores. They gravitate towards long-established classic stores and boutiques unique to quaint New England towns.
* Wear heavy makeup and endless hair products. The phrase "less is more" is a preppy creed.
* Glue purses to their arms, especially when going to school. Lip gloss and if need be, a wallet, are thrown into tote bags along with books.

Abercrombie really isn't preppy.

I wear J Crew, Lacoste, Polo Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, and I have a few stuff from North Face.

Although I'm not really into those rainbow belts and extremely brightly colored polos.

I do pop the collar occasionally. :P

o_O; Uh oh, so I am somewhat a prep. >/ Yikes. Ha ha glue purses to their arms. >] Sorry I find that funny. =]

JC Penny, Kohls, and Wal-Mart have great selections of clothing. I'm serious. Plus, the clothing at these stores are as cheap as dirt which is an added bonus.

I just found out Wal Mart had clothes like...two months ago. haha

O_O Are you serious, Jonathan?

Yeah......

I went to Wal Mart Vision Centre yesterday, though!

Am I the only one who didn't know Wal Mart had clothes?

I've only been to Wal Mart like... a few times.

Wal-Mart is really good for those last minute projects...the ones where you have to break the city curfew and buy those supplies for that project that you were procrastinating about for 2 weeks.

Yes...I knew that Wal-mart sold clothes.

See even stores like walmart are okay. Although I would not shop there, but other kids find that there clothing suits better than some $150 shirt from some "preppy" store.

Jon K...you sound really condescending there. For people who like to bargain shop they go to Wal Mart. Yes, they have clothes. (not great ones, but they cover the body)

oO; Are you sure a shirt would cost $150 dollars? oo; I find that very unlikely.

$150 shirt...wow! My shirts are in the range of $15-25. School shirts are nice though...they are cheap and you feel quite okay wearing them at school.

Thats exactly what I'm saying Greendayfan! :) I'm not trying to attack anybody but I saying the truth.

I just named the price $150
