I have already sent in my deposit to accept my admissions offer to Lehigh University. Is it appropriate to notify other schools that accepted me of this? Should I just email them and let them know I accepted Lehigh's offer and will not be attending their school?

Yes. Your admissions packet to the other schools should include a card to accept or decline their offer. My son’s asked

Accept or Decline
Other schools to which you were accepted.
If decline: where are you matriculating?

It would be a courtesy to let the other schools know ASAP.

If there is no card you can usually do it online.

Does Lehigh have a ranked waitlist??

I had a 1330/1940 and a 3.6

If you are set on lehigh then you should tell your other schools asap, because by you notifying them early you are saving some poor kid who is sitting on the waitlist sooner.

Yes, it’s totally appropriate to decline an admissions offer. At the very least, it’s considerate of your fellow college applicants to do so. The sooner the college has a sense of its admissions yield, the sooner they start accepting people off the waitlist.

Definitely decline if the admissions letter or packet had a place to do so or directions to do so online. Don’t go out of your way to decline if the school did not provide an easy way for you to do this.

I’m guessing that I would hate for you to define what ‘going out of your way’ is to help another person get an invite sooner versus later.

It’s not rocket science and it’s not 45 miles hiking through the jungle. If you can’t find a form, send an e-mail or pick up the phone and call the admissions office. Do the right thing.

Yeah please do, for all of you guys who are already set on a college you should decline the offer of admission from you other schools. Remember that you would be giving your spot to someone on the wait list who’s probably going crazy. I know I am, for all of you who were accepted at bentley and are not going please inform the school :)
