<p>Hello CC! I'm doing my Common App, and I have a question about the "additional information" section. It asks for any information that gives context to your high school career. My question is, would it be acceptable to write about family issues (alcoholism, abuse, fights) in the section? I had low(er) grades my freshman and sophomore years because my parents were always drunk and argumentative. Can I include this to account for my grades, or is it wrong?</p>
<p>You should ask your counselor to mention it in his letter of recommendation, but you should not write about it yourself.</p>
