I feel really dumb because I did not start to really care about school until mid eight grade. Because of this I could not take any honors freshman year. I got pretty much all A's and now this year in sophomore year I take 2, then junior/senior year I have a couple more planned + AP's. Im not including any of my few EC's/other things but without any honors classes freshman year and only a few sophomore year could it still be possible to get into a college like Carnegie Mellon or other like it/lower than it?

I have the same feeling man. I have straight A's. Last year, my freshman year I had two honors but I don't know what the hell happen to me last February that made me decide to take only 2 honors this year. I regretted about it so badly. I have to make up a lot my junior year. It definitely affects us if we don't have enough honors and aps.

there are a few v. prestigious colleges (one ivy league, I'm sure, can't remember tho) that don't look at freshman year.

Princeton and the UCs don't look at freshman year, and the ones who do usually don't put as much weight on it as other years.

^^ Jonathan, are you serious? Someone justifiy this.

Justify what? That is what they do.

The best colleges are looking for the most rigorous courses offered. Take as many as you can while maintaining good grades (and a real life, too).
