I'm starting here as a freshman, and with 1st quarter almost over, I haven't joined any clubs or worked. I kind of wanted to start off slow so I could focus on my studies. Now I'm wondering if it'll look bad on med school apps. and such? I would also like to know if its easy to join clubs starting winter quarter. Thanks for your help! I feel bad! So lazy!

research and volunteering are a lot better for your med school app than a club … unless it’s like that TJ medical clinic thing

Grad schools rank ECs and job experience lowwwwww

Research, internships, SOP, and LOR are what you should focus on

ECs are just there to keep you sane

“Grad schools rank ECs and job experience lowwwwww”
Isn’t this a little much of a generality? Job experience can play a large factor in many grad-school programs… I guess this is probably true for med-school though.

if your ECs and jobs are relevant to your field of study, then they’re pretty important. i TAed for the chem department and worked in two biochem research labs – both of which contributed to my getting in to grad school.

then again, my friend talked about working at abercrombie for her med school application and she still got in. the 95%tile MCAT score might’ve helped too.
