is it bad not to get a borderline supplement if you think you're borderline???

i think im kind of borderline.. i mean, im definately not a for-sure-im-totally-in applicant...
like, my satI is 2080, satII lit630 and ushistory 760, 4.4 UC gpa, 4.7 weighted...i mean i have really good extracurriculars and leadership and challenging courseload all 4 years but ...

i feel as though the UCs are definately a numbers game and my numbers arent very competitive.

what the heck makes a borderline applicant anyway??

People who got the supplement posted their stats, yours are higher. So I would say that you are not borderline.

I also wonder if it is bad not to get a borderline supplement if you are borderline…
Do borderline students get in without the supplement?

For me, I know that my SAT is too low (1780) and my GPA (3.73/4.0) is not that good so if I didn’t get any supplemental questionnaire from a reach school then I was rejected for sure. I got one from ucb but not any other so I think I know that I was rejected from ucsd and ucla.

^ don’t be so sure about SD. LA however…I think you’re out of luck unless you have excellent ECs/are a champion at a sport (I’m speculating, but this girl I know got into LA because she was like a champ at water skiing or something really random. She definitely had lower SATs and GPA than you for sure.)

Leftist Homonid, do you know if borderline students can get in without the supplement?

^ If you don’t get the supplement, you are not borderline (at least according to UC Berkeley adcom).

I thought I was borderline and I got in. For spring, sure, but I still got in.

Maybe you’re going to be a spring admit?

^^@piftw do you mind me asking what your stats were?

i would totally not mind getting in as a spring admit

I skimmed all 22(!) pages of the releated thread on this board and it looks like in previous years the supplement was mailed out in waves, starting from about mid-Jan up until early Feb. So I think there’s still a chance of getting one…

Your stats look extremely similar to mines, and I did not get the questionnaire. The decision date came and I was greeted with a pleasant surprise.
