I'm a sophomore this year planning to be a business major. I'm taking AP Physics 1 this year, Physics 2 next year. I plan to do AP Bio senior year, but is it bad not to take all 3 core sciences? Will Wharton look at this and wonder why I opted out of AP Chem for AP Physics 2?

No, it’s fine, IMO.

Could you elaborate a bit on why?

There is no expectation that someone majoring in business will have taken AP’s in all 3 major sciences. I’m a prospective STEM major, and I’ve only taken 2. In order to take AP Bio, Chem, and Physics, it would most likely have to be at the expense of another core subject, which colleges may not view as desirable.

Okay. Sounds good!

There is no expectation that ANYONE will take all 3 AP Sciences, even if tkey are applying to MIT or Cal Tech. The same goes for languages – no one is expected to take AP French and AP Spanish, and possibly AP Latin. One language, done well, is fine.

Thanks for letting me know!
