In my high school we have the opportunity to take Calc 2 and Calc 3 after Calc AB. It’s run by SDSU and the grade doesn’t show up on our high school transcript, rather it’s presented on a separate SDSU transcript. Generally people take Calc 2 and 3 in one year as they are both semester classes but I want to drop second semester so I can take an elective im interested in, is this a stupid idea or is this normal?
If Calc 3 is something that has was listed anywhere on your college application as a course you would be taking then the safest option would be to contact your regional admissions officers for schools that you’re admitted to/intend on going to and make sure they’re okay with the drop. Some schools reserve the right to rescind offers of admission if you drop courses (thus decreasing the rigor) without their okay. Whether it ever happens, I’m not sure, but why risk it?
If it’s not on your application anywhere and not a requirement for graduation or anything like that then go for it.
