Is it bad to say Facebook's my favorite website?

Really? That kind of worries me then. I haven’t submitted my application, but I can tell you that I am not a bigot and that nothing on foxnews.com is “racist” in any way shape or form. So, would u suggest that I not include things like “officer of young republicans club” and that sort of thing on my app too?

I think the “Republican Club” is fine: it shows that you are actively involved in things you believe in. The problem with foxnews.com is that, while it serves to reinforce an important part of you, one thing it might put into the admission officers’ minds is that that you might not think about the issues on as deep a level as you have indicated. they know that foxnews (as well as msnbc, cnn, usatody…) is not as devoted to intellectualism and deep thinking as much as entertainment and making money. I would suggest a more intellectual conservative site (foreignpolicy.com maybe, i dont know how conservative it is. )

Oh goodness, I put down Google too. Now that I think about it, everybody probably put down the same thing…great. I didn’t really think about it. It’s jsut the website I use most, haha

I put down google too!!! :(

I couldn’t think of anything else. I like some other little websites. But they will aren’t anything that’ll make me stand out. So I didn’t use them.

Google isn’t a website, it’s a search engine…

I’m really tempted to put failblog. or CC. or even MIT opencourseware if i’m being honest hahaha

The young Republicans club is fine. But there is a HUGE difference between a moderate Republican and a Fox News viewer…

I mean, I would interpret it as:

“Republican? Okay, it’s good that you’re expressing your views.”

“FOX NEWS VIEWER? WHAT KIND OF MORON LISTENS TO THE LIKES OF GLENN BECK, SEAN HANNITY, GRETCHEN CARLSON, AND BILL O’REILLY? THIS GUY IS OBVIOUSLY A RACIST, A NUTJOB EXTREMIST, AND A FIRST CLASS MORON.”

I’m not saying that you are those things… But Fox News offends a lot of people and caters to extremists.

As a conservative, I get the same feeling watching Fox News that I get as a Californian watching 90210.

I put “My Life is Average” (:

uh, I put down Facebook, and guess what, I’m typing this from a dorm at Princeton right now!

For the record, I read CNN, read the Economist, and read Fox News. I don’t consider myself extreme in any regard.

Just put the truth – it is REALLY that easy. If your favorite site is unsavory, the adcoms deserve to know that anyway. :stuck_out_tongue: Really, though, it doesn’t matter too much.

I’d say, think of those questions as speed dating. You don’t want to come off as creepy, but you want to present yourself geniunely in search of true love.

Hmm…not sure if that helps… :P

but I think its best just take it easy, I doubt they’re going to spend hours psychoanalysing and deconstructing the levels of meaning in 2/3 word answers.

My favourite website is encyclopediadramatica.com. srsly.

But that’s obviously not a choice to put on the app… haha

Just put what’s true for you. I put CC, which was my favorite site when I was applying to schools (I’ve since been less active because of college work).

I agree with those that say it depends on what you want it to say about you. It definitely wont help or hurt your app (significantly), it’s just to help them get to know who you are. I’m probably going to put imdb or mystery google, generic sites that anyone could put. It just depends on what you want it to say about you. The worst thing you could do would be to pick something that doesn’t describe you.

Ha. Looks like this made it to [The Prox](http://blogs.dailyprincetonian.com/2009/12/0-false-18-pt-18-pt-0-0-false-false.html).

^famous …lol i should start a thread tomake me famous

You could put it down, but it wouldn’t really have any effect, regardless of what website you put down. Honestly, I don’t really understand why they even ask us those short answer questions (what can they learn about me from my “favorite word” ???)

Quick question:
Should I use the name of the website or the url?

I’m putting down Google hehe although i really do like facebook hehe
