Is It Bad To Say You've Won Scholarships Already

I've applied to about 3 million scholarships and i recently won one for $2000. i'm applying for another one that asks if i've won any scholarships yet. i feel that if i say no, i have a better chance of getting it. i'm not sure how they'd find out i won the other one, but i feel kinda bad. should i just pretend like i filled out the application before i found out about the schlolarship i won?

bump!!!!!!

write down what you have won otherwise that's lying and if they actually find out your lying consider your offer null and void

Think of it this way...indicating that you have won a scholarship also indicates that you are worthy of receiving one. I would list what you have won. It may end up helping you. And as noted above, to not do so would be dishonest.

I don't know if I would neccessarily say that as they want to get money from you. They can find out later as far as I'm concerned.

Congrats on winning some free money. During a couple of info sessions I attended, the finaid officer encouraged private scholarship money and said that such funds did not detract from any finaid package that they would offer. Most finaid packages assume $2k contribution from the student each year, either by summer earnings, on campus work-study, or savings. So, any such scholarship could be used in lieu of work-study. Of course, each school has different rules - check the websites of the schools you are considering.

coqui... which other scholarships have you applied for? which one did you win?

Just be honest. And like thumper1 said, if they see that you've won a scholarship, it might show that you're an excellent candidate for this particular scholarship.
