I'm a junior and I'm taking it for the first time in March. I have been prepping for a little bit, basically last summer and now 6 weeks before the test.

My scores have gotten worse every time I take the test, I don't know why. Something tells me the practice tests I have been taking are actually harder than the real SAT because out of the 4 practice tests I was given in my SAT class, it got harder each time and they graded my essay harder each time. My first essay I did, I thought I did a horrible job and I ended up getting a 12. The 2nd time, I thought I did even WORSE and I got a 10. And then after that I thought I did a really GOOD job on my essays and I got back to back 8's.

Anyway since I don't think I'm going to do very well on this one, I'm going to study my ass off in the summer AGAIN and take the first SAT that comes up. But that puts a lot of pressure on me to do well though since it will be the absolute last time I will take it..

Nope, I'd the majority of October and November test takers are seniors.

You can do March, June, September (my plan).

not bad at all, although if colleges see your score decreased at every test, it might raise a few eyebrows

Fastweb says that colleges actually want you to take the SATs in your senior year.

For Regular Decisions of admission to colleges with deadlines of Jan. 15 or later, you can even squeeze in the December senior year sitting. You can send "rush scores" but you have to check with each college that they'll do that.
Usually, senior year Sept. and Oct. is what's done. THere's also Dec. but if you have to als take SAT-II's you might need one of those months for that.
You can't take SAT-I and SAT-II's on the same test date, but you can take up to 3 SAT-II's b/c each is only an hour. Not all colleges even WANT an SAT-II. Sorry if I'm confusing you.

Sorry, there's no September.

My son first tested in the spring, then repeated in October, and November.

In December he took his SAT-II's.

If he had wanted to he could have squeezed in January of senior year, but he was satisfied/burnt out by then and needed to spend his time finishing up the actual college applications, essays, etc. once Dec. rolled around.

For the essay, read all the threads in this CC section called "Please Grade My Essay" to see if you get some structure and tips.
