I've taken the SAT twice already, the first time with a 2110 and the second time with a 2250 (CR: 770, Math: 720, Writing: 760). I improved in all categories on my second time. Should I take it again? I'm looking at some top-level schools and I'm fairly certain I can improve, especially in math. If I do worse on my third try, will that count against me on my application? What do you think?

some schools do factor in all the he test taking… some take superscores. depends on where you are applying

Depending on where you are applying, I’d stick with the 2250. It’s a great score and you shouldn’t have to worry about studying and having test anxiety when you could be focusing on other parts of your application (i.e. EC’s, awards, community service, etc.) Those will make much more of an impact than a couple more points on your SAT I, and that’s assuming you will improve. Good luck deciding though! :)

I’d say stop. I took the SAT three times to get a similar score to you (2250 superscored), and got into the two ivies I applied to. Don’t worry about it, good luck!

2250 is a good score. If I were you, I would spent my time perfecting the other areas of my application.

ok, thanks ppl

i agree with Hillary. taking 3 isn’t harmful whatsoever. With your scores however, it really isn’t necessary to take it again. it’s a waste of time and money.

take it until you get a 2400 or colleges wont even look at your application
im sorry but its the truth
:(

I agree with those who say you don’t need to.

It’s not a question of working to improve it… it’s a question of the opportunity cost… what could you do with another 20-25 hours (study + exam sitting + recovery) that would improve other aspects of your admissions file.

ok thanks …

@dude109: I’m detecting some sarcasm there.
