Is it basically guaranteed?

That a Native American will get into almost every school they apply to (ivy or not) considering they have decent grades/test scores/ ec's? There's a boy at my school who is NA (middle class, normal) with okay everything (3.7-8 ish i think, 1900 sat and a few volunteer positions/ec's who got accepted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton and MIT. so I'm assuming that since the NA race is so underrepresented at most universities a decent/good student could make it into ivies if they were NA (enrolled, of course)? Just wondering, I just find this sort of odd and even a bit unfair.

By the way, if this came off as offensive I apologize, I’m really just curious is all.

So so, I guess.

“even a bit unfair”

Why is that? Ask the classmates of this student if they think they are diminished by having a high achieving Native American among them – or is that spot better taken by … (you fill in the blank). I attended one of the schools that offered him/her a spot. I would have enjoyed knowing him/her.

I am Native American. Being Native American, Cherokee to be exact, is a blessing. There are many more opportunities, even scholarships for those that are Native American. I do think that being Native American has influenced the college’s decision to accept me. I have been offered a full ride based off of my academic achievements and based off of being a member of the Cherokee Nation.

Adding to what I said above ^

Dartmouth has offered to fly me and my parents out to visit the campus - all expenses paid. In November, I was able to attend the American Indian Science and Engineering Society National Conference - all expenses paid. Native Americans have many more opportunities, in my opinion and experience.

I wonder if the same goes for gypsies. I should have said that on my application. Darn
