Is it better to get a C in a class or fail and retake it?

I have a 69% in math right now, (due to the fact that I thought I could switch out and therefore bombed the first two tests of the semester) and some counselors told me if I couldn't get a B, it would be better to fail it and retake the class for a better grade during the summer while others have said that I should just try my best and get a C (because I know there's no way for me to get a B with the next two tests and a final). So what do you think? I'm a junior in pre-calc honors and I need to decide whether to bust my ass or fail. I got a B last semester, and I get mostly A's and B's in everything else.
