<p>My SAT score for math and critical reading are both 660. I'm afraid that UW won't accept me into aerospace engineering, so would i not get into UW if i don't qualify for engineering or will i just get put in as an undecided major?
Is it safer to put undecided as my major?</p>
<p>Realistically, I do not think it would matter either way. You can put down engineering as your prospective major, but the application to that specific department is separate from admission to the school. You could get accepted to the school, but not the engineering program, at which time you could choose an alternate route. That being said, contact the department you are interested in or the admissions counselors at UW for a more definitive answer. Good luck!</p>
<p>The major(s) you indicate on your application will have no bearing on UW’s admission decision. If you are a freshman applicant and the major you select is a competitive major, then except in a few isolated cases, you will be admitted as “pre-<major>” – in your case preengineering. You will then need to apply to the engineering dept of your choice once you have satisfied all the prerequisites for that major (typically in winter or spring of sophomore year for admission to the dept the following quarter).</major></p>
