Is it better to have a high weighted gpa and "decent" unweighted GPA or..?

or a 4.0 unweighted in all CP classes?

This is more of a curiosity thing, but say you have a 3.5 GPA unweighted and a 4.7 GPA weighted. Would this be frowned upon in comparison to a 4.0 in CP classes? Which do colleges prefer or consider the better (can't think of a more suitable word) choice when toiling through mountains of applicants?

I don’t think colleges use the weighted gpa. They are going to look at the difficulty of the courses you took as compared to the rigor of your high school and compared to other applicants. They recalculate everyone’s gpa based on a 4.0. It is certainly better to have a 3.5 with honors and ap’s than a 4.0 with just cp’s.

^^unless you want to be admitted to UMich…

^^idk what hes talkin bout either. most schools use both gpas. better schools use weighted gpa. btw its impossible to have a 3.5 uw and 4.7 weighted. and a 4.0 in cp classes would be frowned upon because you declined admission to honors courses

Most top colleges look for you to take the most challenging curriculum. If that means you don’t have a 4.0 that’s OK.
