Is it better to have rigour or intrests

Hello, I am a rising Junior with a question regarding my schedule.

You see, the majority the academically gifted students has 1 or 2 Ap classes, but I’m among a few that are taking 3. Among us, qw all basically have 2 Ap classes in common (APUSH and AP Micro Econ), but differ in the 3rd. For the third, some are taking AP Bio, some are taking AP Calc (depends on Math placement), and I’m taking AP Statistics. I understand that mine is not as rigorous as the other 2, but I also have plan on majoring in Statistics. My question is if I made a good decision with taking Stats, or should I have taken Biology (AP Calculus is not a possibility since I moved there during 7th grade, not before where I could have qualified to take Algebra 1 in 7th grade).

Since you’re planning on majoring in Stats, then yeah, I’d say AP Stats is the better choice. Take AP Calc AB in your senior year too if possible.

For a prospective statistics major, AP statistics can give you an idea of what statistics is like at a very basic level, although it will not help you with advanced placement. AP calculus could help you with advanced placement. AP biology would not be specifically helpful for your major, although biology is a common application of statistics.

Both perspectives are good to know. I should also mention though that I do plan on taking the other 2 during senior year.

Are you also taking pre-calc?
You want to take precalc and Calc if possible as well as AP stats

You need precalculus (honors) and calc for a statistics major.
Statistics for statistics majors will be Calculus based and will be different from AP stats (which is a slow-paced, algebra based equivalent to elementary statistics for non majors).
Sow if you’re taking precalculus and AP stats together, it’s fine - but if you’re taking AP stats instead of precalculus, switch.
