Is it better to move in earlier or later?

For freshmen, the residence halls open on the 29th at 7am and they say we should move in between then and noon. What would be the ideal time to get there, and is it better to move in earlier or later?

We like earlier.

Earlier is better - it will be less busy and you would get 1st pick on dresser/bed (if you have a roommate)

So what time should I be aiming for? By the way, I’m rooming with a friend from school so I won’t have to deal with any of that awkwardness and whatever.

7:42 am. no later, no sooner.

7 am would be the best time.

Earlier. Probably have chance to park closer to dorms so easier to unload and less crowded. Also it will not be as hot.

Definitely get there earlier. You’ll be able to get in line early for your check-in and also move in to your room earlier and it’ll be easier to.

Hmm…I don’t think I could be ready before 8, but I could probably be ready by 8:30 which would put me up there right around 10…

Or you could just set your alarm three hours earlier.

Earlier, more time to socialize!

When I dormed, I prefered going in earlier. Waiting for a packed elevator with an arms load of heavy junk is no fun. And then there’s the lack of decent parking; about twenty parents will pull up directly in front of the door - not even on the lot, but literally three feet from the door so you have to sidle to get in and out.

We always tried to beat the rush.

One thing worth checking: at a lot of universities (based on a small sample of the universities my friends attend) it’s possible to move in early, and pay 30-50 dollars per day. 30 dollars to move in on a day when no one else is is definitely worth it. You get first pick of the bed, dresser, etc, and don’t need to deal with the massive cluster**** that is move in day.

It would be ridiculous to move in early when I live less than 2 hours away…and I would be incredibly lonely as well.

Why’d you ask then?

Then why ask this question?
